The year I was born, prophetic Black science fiction writer Octavia Butler published an essay called Positive Obsession, where she describes her belief in the power of an obsession to be a useful tool, “like aiming carefully in archery.”
My positive obsession has always been the hidden inner worlds of my fellow humans. This obsession has led me to study psychology, trauma, spirituality, magic and the storytelling arts. I love nothing more than to use my acquired knowledge, powers of analysis and expansive empathy to dive into the psyche of fully-fleshed characters, explore their depths and channel them outward through my voice.
As a mixed-race, queer, gender-fluid, non-binary, trans, invisibly-disabled, Black Jew, I am especially drawn to characters who also live at marginalized intersections.
I am a finalist in the 2023 Indie Ink Award in the category of Best Audio Narration for my production of the queer speculative fiction classic, Chameleon Moon by RoAnna Sylver.
I studied Theatre with a focus on social justice applications at Wesleyan University and continued my training as a voice actor with award-winning narrator Emily Lawrence. I am also trained through the intermediate level of the Somatic Experiencing trauma healing modality. I record in my home studio.
